Karlovy Vary and environment

Ostrov lies about 12 km from Karlovy Vary at the foot of The Ore Mountains. Ostrov offers its visitors a lot of historical sights and other interesting places. The largest concentration of sights is around a wonderful chateau park, which used to be called the 8th wonder of the world. Most of the sights around the park and the Old Town have been rebuilt recently.You can see all these beautiful places:

• St. Anna Chapel - Mausoleum of Dukes Saxon - Lauenbur Dukes and Baden Margraves
• Piarist College with the Church of Annunciation of the Virgin Mary

• St. Virgin Mary Einsiedel Chapel

The new part of Ostrov was built in Socialist Realism in 50s of the 20th century. Architectural style of SORELA is also presented by the House on the square Mírové Square.

There are other places of interest, for example Ecocentre Ecocentre full of interesting animals, a new park in the area of Bor´s ponds etc which you can also visit with children.
