Loket – Medieval Castle of Loket

The town of the 13th century and the Gothic castle of the same name are situated just 13 km from Karlovy Vary. This town has also ( similarly to Karlovy Vary) historically a lot in common regarding the emperor Charles IV. He was a prisoner here in his young age and when he was adult he went hunting to a local game park.
You can go for a nice walk along Svatošské Skály on an educational path from Karlovy Vary to Loket.
The medieval castle founded in the 12th century is the dominant of the town. Inside you can find apart from the Museum of Weapons and Porcelaine Exhibition also a successful exposition of torture. The historical centre surrounded by the River Ohře, however, offers much more:
- St. Wenceslas Church
- Town Hall
- St. Anna Chapel
- Mariánská Chapel
- open-air theatre - amphitheatre
- The Holy Trinity Column
- and other important places
